Hippo Digital is recruiting for Principal Product Managers to join our growing Health Sector. As a strategic product leader within Health, you will be instrumental in shaping portfolio vision, influencing health organisational strategy, and transforming client ambitions into impactful, large-scale results. You’ll champion strategic direction across entire product portfolios, empower leaders, and drive the delivery of high-value outcomes that significantly improve public health outcomes while navigating the complexities of the NHS and wider healthcare landscape.

As a Principal Consultant, specialising in Product, you’ll already be a recognised expert in your field, leading at the portfolio or programme level. You will bring proven strategic experience working across major health and care organisations, such as NHSE, DHSC, NHSBSA, ICBs, Primary or Secondary Care. You will be a leader of leaders, coaching Senior Product Managers and advocating for user-centred design across the health sector.

Your role in a nutshell:

  • Owning and leading the strategic direction of areas within the Hippo product community.
  • Leveraging your experience to develop and grow the community.
  • Defining and leading the overarching strategic vision, roadmap, and business models for entire product portfolios within the health sector.
  • Representing the product function at the executive level, shaping organisational policy, and advocating for product-centric changes with senior client leadership in health and care organisations.
  • Establishing overarching strategy and objectives for a portfolio, including cascading objectives from the overarching health missions down to individual product goals.
  • Defining and implementing delivery and risk management frameworks across a portfolio, proactively mitigating strategic challenges in complex clinical and data environments.
  • Driving the improvement of organisational standards for user and patient research, ensuring patient needs are at the heart of all product work.
  • Defining data, AI, and innovation strategies that align with healthcare standards, optimising for value, clinical safety, and the ethical adoption of future technological changes.
  • Mentoring and coaching Senior leaders, fostering institutional learning and building capability across the health product profession.

Skills and experience that you need:

  • Translate complex healthcare policies, market analysis, and emerging trends, such as the clinical application of AI, into actionable strategic decisions and product investment areas for a health portfolio.
  • Architect and lead change strategies that align project delivery with long-term health organisational goals, addressing underlying processes, tools, and cultural norms.
  • Build portfolio-level strategy and establish metrics frameworks to regularly review performance against patient outcomes and initiate strategic pivots based on data-driven insights.
  • Define and influence organisational structure, processes, and culture to enable effective cross-departmental collaboration and psychological safety across complex NHS boundaries.
  • Anticipate long-term threats and opportunities, influencing policy and investment to embed resilience, clinical safety, and patient data privacy as foundational principles.
  • Lead collaboration efforts with a wide range of internal teams, clinical experts, external partners, and senior stakeholders, successfully presenting evidence-based business cases.
  • Champion and embed GDS (Government Digital Service) and NHS Service standards at an organisational and portfolio level, guiding multiple products and capabilities through service assessments and complex regulatory environments.
