As Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Lead you will work with the Head of People to drive Hippo’s DI&B agenda forward with the purpose of ensuring an inclusive workplace that values diversity and fosters an environment where all employees feel respected and empowered.
The role involves advising leadership, supporting employee groups, and implementing initiatives from across an action plan to achieve our strategic objectives.
In doing so, our aim is ensuring we not only comply with legal requirements but foster a culture of inclusion and belonging for all employees, while reinforcing our values and company culture.
Our DI&B Lead makes data-driven decisions by gathering quality data and effectively analysing, monitoring and reporting on it.
We work as a collaborative team within People to develop and deliver tangible improvements that support our ambitious goals and growth and position Hippo as an industry leader.
You should feel comfortable challenging others constructively, demonstrating pragmatism, sensitivity and understanding.
Central to the role is the ability to build relationships with others using exceptional interpersonal skills, whilst ensuring that DI&B objectives align with and support the commercial needs of the business.
- Key Areas of Accountability
- Development and delivery of our DI&B strategy, along with the specific areas identified in the DI&B action plan.
- Analyse diversity data across the employee lifecycle and roll-out employee surveys to understand and track Hippo’s overall DI&B impact and performance.
- Support and advise the People team on inclusive practice, including on initiatives to close our pay gaps, as well as the talent team on inclusive recruitment.
- Conduct assessments of organisational policies, processes and practices, and supporting their development from an inclusion perspective, ensuring legal compliance at minimum and striving for best practice.
- Upskill managers and employees on the importance of DI&B and building the requisite knowledge, skills and behaviours.
- Organise events and awareness sessions internally to both celebrate DI&B and to provide education and development opportunities for Hippos.
- Chair the DI&B forum and provide coaching and support to the Communities of Belonging.
- Work closely with the social value team, including on accurate and regular data reporting, and help grow external partnerships through events and initiatives to raise the profile of Hippo’s DI&B and Social Value work.

- Experience in developing and implementing DEI/DI&B strategy and initiatives with a strong knowledge of D&I principles, legal requirements, and best practices.
- Excellent collaboration and relationship-building skills across all levels of the organisation and the ability to influence without direct authority.
- Capable of demonstrating high levels of empathy, emotional intelligence, cultural competency and resilience to coach others, providing the right balance of support and challenge.
- Ability to analyse data and use insights to drive decision-making and improvement.
- Confidence to present, facilitate and network effectively, and experience communicating complex information for a variety of stakeholders.

Hippo Locations
We are headquartered in Leeds and have offices across the UK in Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, London and Bristol.
We're on the lookout for top talent nationwide but you need to be located within reasonable travelling distance from one of our offices.
Given the dynamic nature of a consulting business, you may be required to work on-site at a Hippo office or at an in/out of town client location for a number of days per week (client dependent) and therefore candidates will need to be open/flexible to travel and working on one of those sites at least 2 days per week.
We offer a generous relocation support package of up to £8,000 (please ask for terms and conditions) to help make your move a smooth one.
