Waste Management Operative Loader

About the Role

We are recruiting Waste Management Operatives to support the launch of a new Food Waste service commencing in February next year. Your role will include working as part of a small team collecting food waste primarily in our new Food Waste Collection vehicles, with the flexibility to collect other waste streams (Refuse, Dry Recycling or Garden waste) as part of the wider waste management services we provide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect food waste and other waste streams using provided vehicles and equipment.
  • Assist with the initial distribution of food waste containers to residents before collections begin.
  • Operate safely and efficiently, moving wheeled bins, containers, sacks, and other receptacles.
  • Provide high levels of customer service and interact courteously with members of the public.
  • Behaviorally support the council’s values and meet service standards.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Physically fit, capable of walking long distances and moving heavy items.
  • Commitment to delivering front‑line service to the community.
  • Current category B licence is advantageous, with the option to train for a category C licence (fully funded).

Grade 3, £25,185 up to £26,403 per annum pro‑rata.

37 hours per week, full‑time, permanent contract with potential HGV Driver Training.
