Overview: The role sits within the Housing Options Team to provide a frontline, customer focused housing service, triaging the needs of applicants facing homelessness and assisting them to proceed with their application.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess applicants as the first point of contact, discussing personal and complex information, ensuring this is accurately recorded against their application, and where necessary arranging further assistance with a specialist officer.
  • Confirm information provided and give detailed advice to housing customers.
  • Compile associated documentation for performance indicators and government returns, recording information on IT systems.
  • Assess applications to the housing register alongside a homelessness application.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a pressurised environment.
  • Initiative, also working well in a team.
  • Experience of dealing with sensitive issues via the telephone and by interviewing members of the public face-to-face.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and adapt to changing priorities to meet customer need.
  • Ability to collate and interpret complex information and make assessments following policy and legislation.
  • Experience of using databases and case management systems to process and assess applications from start to finish.

Employment Details:

Hybrid working model with a mix of office-based, home and remote working available when suitable. The contractual base will be office based with agreed flexibility to work from home or at remote working locations in the borough. Until training is completed the role will be office based at Hinckley Hub.
