The predicted salary is between 42839 - 42839 £ per year.

Salary: £38,220 up to £42,839 per annum pro rata (pay award pending)

Grade: 7

Location: Hinckley, Leicestershire (Hybrid working available)

Contract: 37 hours per week, permanent contract, working Monday to Friday, some out of hours working will be required

About the role

Are you an experienced revenues professional ready to lead, influence and make a real difference across three forward-thinking councils? The Leicestershire Revenues and Benefits Partnership is looking for a confident, motivated and customer-focused professional to lead our Business Rates and Visits teams. Based in Hinckley and working across Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council, Harborough District Council and North West Leicestershire District Council, this is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality local taxation services across a successful shared service.

What you will be doing

  • Lead the day to day operation and performance of a Non Domestic Rates team to ensure accurate and timely billing, collection and enforcement in line with legislation and policies.
  • Lead and supervise a team to ensure Non Domestic Rate account processes are completed accurately and on time in accordance with legislation and targets.
  • Plan, prioritise and oversee workloads to maximise resources, maintain efficiency and address backlogs.
  • Take responsibility for the collection and enforcement of outstanding Non Domestic Rates and represent the Partnership at hearings.
  • Monitor and review performance and apply performance management to maximise results and resolve issues promptly.

About you

We are looking for someone who brings strong Business Rates knowledge, sound judgement, excellent people skills and the ability to balance operational delivery with service improvement. You will be an organised and resilient professional who can lead with confidence, communicate clearly and make informed decisions in a complex operational environment. You will understand the importance of accuracy, fairness and legal compliance, while also recognising the need for excellent customer service and constructive working relationships. You may already be working in Business Rates, Revenues, Local Taxation or a similar billing and collection environment. You will be confident supporting staff, managing competing priorities, using performance information to drive improvement and working with partners such as Customer Services, the Valuation Office Agency, enforcement agents and internal council teams.

Essential criteria

  • IRRV Level 3 certificate (Technician) or equivalent experience
  • Basic criminal record check
  • Experience of prioritising workloads to meet strict and critical deadlines
  • Effective management, supervision, training and monitoring of staff
  • Proven experience of managing performance for both team and individuals
  • Detailed knowledge of Non Domestic Rates including legislation, case law and best practice
  • Ability to coach, mentor, develop staff and supervise teams to achieve targets, deadlines and objectives
