We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join us as a part-time Design & Technology Technician, to join our existing team of three Technicians supporting our Art, Textiles and Food Technology areas. This role is to commence in March 2026.
Responsibilities
- Support departmental colleagues by ordering and preparing resources and equipment.
- Provide support in and out of class, including setting up resources for each lesson.
- Assist in lessons by managing resources and equipment or helping smaller groups with key activities.
- Pack away and tidy up at the end of the lesson.
Design & Technology is a thriving department where students are encouraged to be independent problem solvers and creative thinkers. The curriculum is planned and delivered to foster this, equipping students with a variety of skills to help them become expert designers and makers. This culminates in the positive exam results the students regularly achieve.
The Design & Technology Department has five purpose-built rooms, five teaching staff and three technicians. The dedicated staff work together as a team and support each other through the sharing of good practice. The teaching team are qualified specialists in their field and teach across all key stages.
The role is term time only and the working pattern is to be agreed with the successful candidates but could be four days per week. Flexibility is required outside school hours to prepare for lessons and tidy resources away at the end of the day. The actual annual salary for 27 hours per week is Β£15,520 (FTE Salary range Β£24,687 to Β£28,328).
Qualifications
- Previous or relevant / transferable experience is essential.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills and a βcan doβ attitude are required.
- The ability to prioritise and provide administrative support is essential.
- A working knowledge of IT applications and software is advantageous but not essential.
