About the Role: Hims & Hers is seeking an enterprising, dynamic and highly self-sufficient Counsel, International to join our fast-paced International Legal team. In this role, you will be a key player supporting our European footprint with a primary focus on Germany, while also driving expansion into new European markets through our international launch function. Operating at the intersection of healthcare, technology, and e-commerce, you will tackle novel legal questions, bring clarity to complex regulatory frameworks, and partner closely with business leaders to build compliant, high-growth healthcare experiences across Europe. You will be a central operational driver for our German and pan-European commercial, telehealth, and pharmacy strategy.
You Will:
- Support German Operations: Serve as a key legal advisor on day-to-day matters across Germany advising on healthcare and pharmacy regulations, e-commerce compliance, digital health, and marketing.
- First-Principles Problem Solving: Untangle complex, novel, or undefined regulatory challenges where traditional precedents don't exist. You will help build legal frameworks using first principles rather than off-the-shelf templates.
- Deliver Actionable, Concise Advice: Cut through ambiguity and synthesise complex legal risks into clear, commercially pragmatic guidance. Your advice will be direct, risk-calibrated, and focused on business value.
- Navigate Pharmacy & Healthcare Regs: Advise cross-functional teams on German, Dutch, and cross-European pharmacy regulations, telemedicine rules, prescribing workflows, healthcare compliance and privacy. Particular focus on Germany’s AMG and HWG.
- Commercial Risk & Disputes: Mitigate commercial risk, negotiate key partner/vendor agreements, and assist with advertising and competition matters (including Germany’s unfair competition / UWG litigation environment).
- Drive Market Expansion & Growth: Partner with the international launch team to scale existing operations and launch Hims & Hers into new European markets, navigating local regulatory, legal, and operational landscapes from scratch.
Who You Are:
- Qualified Attorney: Admitted to practice in the UK, Germany, or Ireland (other EU jurisdictions considered by exception) with ~5+ years PQE in a top-tier law firm, tech company, or fast-growing digital health/telehealth business.
- First-Principles Thinker: You thrive on novelty and ambiguity. When faced with a problem that has never been solved before, you dig into core principles to construct creative, compliant paths forward.
- Pragmatic & Commercial: You balance legal requirements with real-world commercial pressure. You understand what the business values and can move quickly without sacrificing quality or compliance.
- Exceptional Communicator: You get straight to the point accurately and efficiently. You can explain intricate healthcare or consumer laws to non-lawyers clearly and concisely.
- Self-Sufficient Operator: You take ownership, run autonomously, and prioritise effectively in a high-velocity environment without needing hand-holding.
Nice to Have:
- Domain Exposure: Prior experience navigating German and/or European pharmacy regulations, digital health/e-health laws, or Germany's unfair competition landscape is strongly favored. GDPR experience will also be viewed favourably, particularly in a healthcare context.
- Language Skills: German.
