We’re Hiring: Assistant Financial Controller
Support the financial operation of the hotel, lead the Accounts Assistant, and help ensure everything behind the scenes runs accurately, efficiently, and smoothly at Holiday Inn Manchester City Centre.

We’re a busy 4-star hotel in the heart of Manchester, just minutes from Piccadilly Station, and we’re looking for an Assistant Financial Controller to support the Financial Controller in managing the day-to-day financial operation of the hotel.
You’ll also supervise the Accounts Assistant and take ownership of the hotel payroll process.
- What You’ll Do
- Finance & Financial Control
- Support the Financial Controller with the day-to-day financial management of the hotel
- Ensure financial records, transactions, and reconciliations are accurate and up to date
- Assist with month-end processes, reporting, and financial analysis
- Monitor income, expenditure, invoices, payments, and outstanding balances
- Complete regular balance sheet and bank reconciliations
- Support the preparation of accurate financial reports and management information
- Help ensure financial procedures and controls are consistently followed
- Payroll
- Take responsibility for processing the hotel’s payroll accurately and on time
- Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure all relevant information is processed correctly
- Liaise with colleagues and external payroll providers where required
- Investigate and resolve payroll queries in a timely and professional manner
- Ensure payroll processes comply with relevant legislation and company procedures
- Team Leadership & Support
- Supervise, support, and guide the Accounts Assistant
- Allocate and review day-to-day finance tasks
- Provide coaching and support to help develop the Accounts Assistant
- Check work for accuracy and ensure deadlines are consistently met
- Work closely with the Financial Controller to maintain a strong and well-organised finance function
- Hotel Operations & Compliance
- Work closely with the wider hotel management team to support effective financial control
- Ensure financial procedures are followed across all areas of the hotel
- Support audits and provide accurate financial information when required
- Maintain confidentiality when handling financial, payroll, and employee information
- Identify discrepancies or issues and take appropriate action to resolve them
- What You’ll Bring
- Previous experience in a finance or accounts role, ideally within a hotel or hospitality environment
- Experience of payroll processing and a strong understanding of payroll procedures
- Good knowledge of financial controls, reconciliations, and month-end processes
- Previous experience supervising or supporting a team member
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage deadlines
- Good communication skills and the confidence to work with colleagues across the hotel
- A proactive, professional approach with the ability to work independently
- Experience with hotel finance systems or accounting software would be an advantage
