We are recruiting for a Warehouse Operative/Relief Driver to join us on a permanent basis working 36.5 hours a week Monday – Thursday 8am – 4pm and Friday 8am-3pm.

Job Summary: Reporting to the Warehouse Manager you will be working primarily in the warehouse in a multi-skilled role with duties within the various warehouse teams. This role will cover driver duties every Friday as well as when required, which may be as a result of planned or unplanned driver absence requiring an immediate response.

The products you will be working with can be delicate and expensive at times, and your greatest level of care is required to ensure the customer does not receive damaged goods.

Operative Duties:

  • Check incoming deliveries and paperwork and store away to allocated areas.
  • Checking and packing of sales orders.
  • Dangerous goods packaging.
  • Processing paperwork on SAGE system.
  • Carrying out warehouse checks and inspections, alongside stock checks.
  • Meet department targets.
  • Attend regular department meetings.
  • Adhere to all company Quality & Safety procedures.
  • Report on compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and retain documented information to support the operation of Dept processes.
  • Assist audit team with identifying and resolving risks issues.
  • Log all discrepancies on the Dept Discrepancy KPI/ Communication Register.
  • Communicate with the Quality Manager regarding the Communication Register and the Dept Discrepancy KPI.

Driver Duties:

  • Collect all deliveries from allocated area.
  • Planning the route to make sure that deliveries are made on time.
  • Check all delivery paperwork.
  • Loading the vehicle in an order that matches the deliveries that you will make.
  • Deliver a wide variety of items to different addresses and through different routes.
  • Unloading goods at the right addresses getting signatures for goods you have delivered.
  • Carrying out vehicle checks and inspections.
  • Keeping the vehicle tidy.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Clean and current driving licence with a minimum of 2 years’ experience driving light goods vehicles.
  • Previous warehouse experience.
  • A valid DG certificate for IMDG & IATA would be preferred but if not, full training will be provided.
  • Forklift Licence would be an advantage.
  • Ability to work accurately and methodically.
  • Reliable, hardworking with great attention to detail.
  • Good numeracy and communication skills.
  • Ability to complete vehicle documentation as directed.
  • To conduct affairs with courtesy and integrity.
  • Ability to read and understand documentation relating to vehicles.
  • Understanding and observation of the Highway Code and other current traffic and motoring regulations.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a larger warehouse team.
