Waldorf Astoria London - Admiralty Arch is seeking a Shift Engineer to join the pre-opening team for this highly anticipated new luxury hotel opening later this year. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced luxury hotelier to join the founding team and help shape the guest experience at this landmark hotel.
Located at the end of The Mall opposite Buckingham Palace, Waldorf Astoria London – Admiralty Arch will feature 100 elegant rooms and suites and 17,500 sqft of private residences. The hotel will open with two signature restaurants - Coreus by Clare Smyth and Café Boulud by Daniel Boulud - bringing together two of the world’s most celebrated Michelin-starred chefs. Guests will also enjoy a world-class spa, state-of-the-art fitness facilities, and a collection of grand event spaces, including a ballroom for up to 320 guests.

As a Shift Engineer, you will act as the operational engineering lead during your assigned shift, supporting the Engineering Team to ensure all maintenance and building services operate flawlessly across the hotel. This includes general property upkeep, energy conservation initiatives, and strict adherence to safety and compliance standards. You will contribute to the ongoing development of the Engineering team while maintaining up to date knowledge of statutory regulations, procedures, and best practices required within an ultra-luxury hotel environment.
You will carry out your responsibilities with precision, professionalism, and discretion, including:
- Performing daily routine and preventative maintenance across guest rooms and hotel areas
- Responding promptly, efficiently, and discreetly to all engineering and maintenance requests
- Executing the preventative maintenance programme to ensure all systems, equipment, and facilities meet brand and regulatory standards
- Supporting the implementation of energy-efficiency and sustainability initiatives
- Identifying and recommending opportunities to enhance maintenance systems and improve energy performance
- Maintaining tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe, organised, and professional condition
- Ensuring technical knowledge, certifications, and skills remain current in line with evolving engineering standards
A Shift Engineer representing Hilton’s luxury portfolio demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and technical excellence while working collaboratively to support the Guest journey. The successful candidate will possess:
- A recognised trade certificate in Electrical, Mechanical, Refrigeration, Carpentry, Plumbing, or a related discipline
- Strong working knowledge of general maintenance and engineering operations
- Previous experience within the Maintenance or Engineering department of an ultra-luxury hotel is highly desirable.
- A strong work ethic with a solution-oriented mindset
- A genuine commitment to delivering outstanding service to Guests and internal stakeholders
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while consistently meeting established timelines
