Packaging Technologist Grimsby role available with Hilton Food Group, a leading FMCG business with strong heritage in meat and a market‑leading position in seafood. This vacancy is advertised via the Meatex Jobs Board and is based at the Grimsby site on Estate Road, supporting innovation, NPD and operational excellence.
Role Overview
In this role, you will manage packaging development and change projects across new product development, continuous improvement and cost‑reduction initiatives. From day one, you will work closely with Development Chefs, NPD, Process Technologists, Commercial and Operations teams to ensure packaging is fit for purpose, retailer‑compliant and delivered on time. As a result, you will play a key role in supporting innovation and operational efficiency across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Select suitable packaging solutions for new product briefs in line with retailer requirements
- Generate accurate packaging costings for NPD and commercial briefs
- Present packaging concepts to customers when required
- Support cross‑functional teams to deliver accurate, on‑time product launches
- Attend packaging trials and complete travel tests where necessary
- Contribute to factory packaging specifications
- Complete sample requests, including merchandising builds
- Generate cutter guides to support artwork development
- Manage artwork processes for own label and branded products using Foods Connected and retailer platforms
- Attend print runs where required
- Supply accurate packaging data for retailer specification documentation
- Input packaging waste data onto retailer platforms
- Support group procurement with trials linked to cost‑saving initiatives
- Provide hands‑on support to operations on day‑to‑day packaging issues
What You’ll Bring
You bring at least two years’ experience as a Packaging Technologist within the food industry, alongside strong organisational and project management skills. In addition, you can work cross‑functionally, manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to different retailer systems and processes. Experience within fish manufacturing and packing is beneficial. You are flexible with working hours, able to travel between sites, and hold a full UK driving licence.
Pay, hours and location
This is a permanent role based in Grimsby (Estate Road), with flexibility required to support multiple sites.
- Salary: Competitive / negotiable depending on experience
- Working pattern: Primarily weekday based, with flexibility for early, late or weekend work when required
