The Role
As a Packaging Technologist, you’ll play a key role in delivering new product launches and packaging improvements. Working closely with Development Chefs, NPD, Process, Commercial, and Operations teams, you’ll ensure packaging is not only fit for purpose but also aligned with customer expectations and business goals. You’ll take ownership of packaging projects from concept through to launch—balancing creativity, technical knowledge, and commercial awareness.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Selecting and developing packaging solutions for new product briefs
- Managing packaging change projects, artwork updates, and cost‑saving initiatives
- Collaborating cross‑functionally to deliver projects on time and to specification
- Presenting packaging concepts to customers where required
- Supporting factory operations with day‑to‑day packaging challenges
- Coordinating artwork processes across retailer and brand platforms
- Attending trials, print runs, and conducting travel tests
- Producing cutter guides and maintaining accurate packaging specifications
- Supporting sustainability and waste data reporting on retailer platforms
What We’re Looking For
- Substantial experience as a Packaging Technologist within the food industry
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities
- Experience working cross‑functionally to deliver results
- Knowledge of retailer requirements, own label vs branded processes
- Ideally, experience within seafood or fish manufacturing
- Flexible approach to working hours and multi‑site collaboration
- Full UK driving licence
