We’re looking for an experienced Business Unit Controller to join our dynamic commercial team and play a pivotal role in driving sustainable growth across key retail partnerships and emerging market opportunities.

At the heart of our success are our people. We are proud of the collaborative, ambitious culture we’ve built — one where innovation, quality, and expertise drive everything we do. With deep-rooted heritage in the food industry and market-leading expertise in meat, we continue to evolve through investment in technology, consumer-led innovation, and category excellence. Our focus is simple: deliver what customers need and consumers want. This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking business with a strong reputation for quality, growth, and innovation.

As Business Unit Controller, you will lead the commercial strategy for key retail accounts while identifying and unlocking new business opportunities across the UK market. You’ll work cross-functionally with Category Insight, NPD, and Commercial teams to deliver long-term growth, first-to-market innovation, and exceptional customer relationships. This role is ideal for a strategic commercial leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a strong track record within FMCG or retail-facing food businesses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities across the UK market
  • Develop and deliver strategic growth plans with retail partners
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Commercial team
  • Collaborate with NPD and Category teams to deliver consumer-led innovation
  • Drive promotional activity to maximise profitability and category growth
  • Lead commercial negotiations including pricing and agreements
  • Oversee forecasting, account administration, and promotional planning
  • Analyse performance data and provide strategic recommendations
What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a commercially astute and influential leader with:

  • Strong experience within product or category management, ideally with one of the UK’s major retailers
  • Proven success in commercial negotiations and customer relationship management
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing teams
  • Strong understanding of category management tools and market insights
  • Commercial awareness with experience in forecasting and business performance analysis
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to identify emerging food trends and market opportunities
  • A proactive, strategic mindset with strong analytical capability
What You’ll Get in Return

We believe in rewarding our people and supporting their development with a comprehensive benefits package including:

  • Aviva DigiCare+
  • Competitive holiday allowance
  • Life assurance (minimum 2x annual salary)
  • Career development and internal progression opportunities
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Share Save scheme
  • Discounts at major retailers and gyms
  • Free onsite parking
  • Subsidised canteen
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity benefits
