About the role: We are now looking for an experienced Engineering Team Leader who will be managing the day-to-day operations within the engineering team, taking responsibility for assigning tasks and prioritising breakdowns. In this role you will be providing safe and efficient engineering service to support production and hygiene, and to ensure that a proactive approach is adopted to maintaining good machinery and operating efficiencies within a timely manner and work collaboratively with other functions, taking hands on approach, and providing support, where required, outside core functional responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- To be the point of contact for the engineering team throughout the night, escalating issues when needed.
- Managing contractors when on site ensuring they are working safely.
- Taking ownership of small projects within the team and driving PPM objectives and meeting KPI's set by the department team managers.
- During all activities ensure that the Health and Safety of themselves and others remains first priority.
- Correcting or if unable to correct, report any hazards which may lead to injury or food safety implications.
- Ensuring all activities are in compliance with food safety legislation and good manufacturing practices.
- Ensuring fast and effective responses to breakdowns and handovers to Production are appropriately communicated.
- Diagnosing faults and taking corrective action to ensure continuous service and identifying further improvements to increase equipment availability.
- Participating in a multi-skilled team within own capabilities and undertake in any training and development exercises to progress.
- Identifying and sharing continuous improvement ideas that may contribute to Health & Safety and equipment uptime or maintenance cost improvements.
- Ensuring planned maintenance work is completed on time and further work required is communicated to the Engineering Supervisor or Manager.
- Having a flexible approach to hours of work and working within the team to provide engineering cover to meet the needs of the business.
- Trained to issue permits to work and contractor permit monitoring.
- Ensuring that good food manufacturing practices are maintained at all times.
Qualifications:
- Previously worked in similar FMCG environment
- Specific equipment knowledge and experience preferable
- IOSH Trained preferable
- Time Served recognised apprenticeship
- At least 5 years' experience beyond this apprenticeship
- BTEC Level 3 or above in Engineering Discipline
