What we are looking for: We are looking for a professional and experienced Cost Accountant to be responsible for developing, maintaining, and analysing accurate product costs across seafood processing operations. The role supports pricing, margin analysis, and cost control, ensuring financial integrity and informed commercial decision‑making.
Key responsibilities as a Cost Accountant will be:
- Product Costing & Yield Analysis
- Develop and maintain standard and actual product costs across all seafood product lines
- Analyse raw material yields, processing losses, waste, and by‑product recovery
- Monitor cost impacts of seasonality, species variation, size grades, and catch availability
- Reconcile theoretical yields to actual production results and investigate variances
- Pricing & Commercial Support
- Support pricing decisions by providing accurate and timely cost data
- Assess costings for new products, contract tenders, and promotional activity
- Partner with Sales and Procurement to understand margin impacts
- Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support the preparation of manufacturing budgets and rolling forecasts
- Model cost scenarios relating to raw material pricing, labour, energy, and throughput changes
- Systems & Controls
- Maintain costing structures within the ERP system
- Ensure strong financial controls over bills of materials, routings, and overhead absorption
- Support continuous improvement of costing processes and reporting
Required experience/expertise to succeed as a Cost Accountant will include:
- Qualified or Part Qualified Accountant/QBE
- Experience of standard costing models / cost systems background
- Previous experience in role within FMCG business
- Strong Excel skills
