As a Process Technologist you will support the Process Manager in the delivery of NPD and EPD projects. Manage factory trials, complete trial reports and collate relevant data as agreed. Manage pre‑productions for NPD and EPD projects, ensuring relevant departments take ownership as if it was a launch. Complete pre‑production report and collect data. Support the factory preparing for customer visits. Collaborate with production teams in developing and maintaining cost effective production processes. Work collaboratively with other functions across site, taking a hands‑on approach, providing support where required outside core functional responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Scope covers all NPD and EPD projects across all categories.
- Work alongside Chefs and NPD Team on new briefs and concepts to ensure they are viable for factory scale up.
- Organise, manage and execute factory trials and ensure trial data is accurately recorded.
- Ensure relevant post‑trial assessments and post‑trial reviews are being completed and documented.
- Support Process Manager gather data on concept to launch costs.
- Maintain accurate product files with handover, trial reports, trial data, photos, shelf life, nutritional certificates and any other info deemed necessary for that project, ensuring full traceability.
- Creation of factory process flows and any other relevant SOP’s.
- Ownership of a project to create new QAS’s and update existing QAS’s.
- Support specification team to complete product specification.
- Present to internal and external customers as appropriate.
- Establish effective working relationships with the customer, suppliers and all internal departments.
- Good working knowledge of all plant machinery, capabilities and programmable information.
- Project work and new machine commissioning trials.
Qualifications
- A food qualification such as Diploma or Degree level desirable and/or extensive relevant operations experience.
- At least 2 years relevant experience in the chilled food industry.
- Be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to different retailer processes and systems.
- Must be able to manage and work to deadlines.
- Good level of competence with Microsoft Excel (e.g., graphs, formulas, data conditional formatting, pivot tables), Word, and PowerPoint as well as Outlook and Teams.
- Experience of customer critical paths and stage & gate.
- Must be able to be flexible about working hours including early, late and weekend work when required.
- Full/clean driving licence is essential with the ability to travel.
- Confident and effective communicator, experienced in meeting with customers.
