Hilson Moran is a multidisciplinary engineering and design consultancy delivering innovative solutions across major UK and international projects. We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a 12-month contract to support a range of complex and high-profile schemes.
Role Overview
You will manage small projects, support larger multidisciplinary schemes, and ensure technical excellence across all design outputs. This role involves close collaboration with project leads, clients and internal teams to deliver high-quality, compliant engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage small projects and support coordination on larger ones.
- Deliver high-quality mechanical design outputs and review technical documentation.
- Lead and support quality assurance processes and regulatory compliance.
- Work directly with clients to resolve technical and quality issues.
- Identify scope changes and assist with fee variations.
- Monitor resources and highlight potential resourcing needs.
- Support digital standards and contribute to process improvements.
- Maintain relevant professional licences and ongoing development.
About You
- BSc/MSc in Engineering or Environmental discipline; Chartered or working toward Chartership.
- Senior-level mechanical design experience in commercial projects (new build, refurb, fit-out).
- Experience in laboratories, light industrial and/or hotel sectors.
- Strong knowledge of Building Services Engineering systems and sustainable/low-carbon design.
- Understanding of ISO 9001 & ISO 14001.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills; D&B experience beneficial.
- Analytical, proactive and adaptable, with strong attention to detail.
