Senior Electrical Design Engineer – Manchester

We are seeking to employ a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in our Manchester office. Hilson Moran are interdisciplinary consultants, engineers and advisors, applying progressive design thinking to shape the environments we live in. We provide a full range of engineering services, exciting innovation and design solutions on a wide range of projects from across our network of offices in the UK. Our projects span the globe, from World Cup stadiums in the Middle East and landmarks in London, to luxury hotels in New York and development projects in India.

As an experienced professional who ideally holds professional accreditation or is actively pursuing it, you will bring an extensive portfolio demonstrating your expertise and capabilities. You will deliver your design services within a diverse and challenging range of design projects. Your project range will vary, demonstrating experience across a range of different scales, complexity, sectors, and geographies.

Responsibilities

• Provide the highest technical and quality standards in all design deliverables. This includes thoroughly reviewing design documents, specifications, and drawings to identify and rectify any discrepancies or errors.
• Assist with the delivery of large complex and niche projects on time and to the highest technical standard.
• Monitor the quality control on projects to ensure the company quality standards are achieved, prepare calculations/specifications and drawings, ensuring they comply with the client's brief.
• Collaborate closely with your project team and lead the implementation of quality assurance processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations and the client's expectations are aligned.
• Coordinate with clients to address quality-related concerns and ensure that all project milestones are met with the highest precision and accuracy.
• Assist the project lead in ensuring all additional work undertaken is appropriately identified, and additional fees are claimed where appropriate.
• Contribute to successfully executing projects and supporting clients in achieving their objectives efficiently and effectively.
• Review resources and advise seniors of potential resource issues.
• Provide guidance and support to our early career staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in design quality.
• Contribute to innovative ideas and solutions to improve design processes and outcome.

Background & Qualifications

• Experience in commercial (new build, refurbishments and fit out), residential and mixed-use developments.
• Comprehensive understanding of Building Services Engineering Systems including their performance, application, and operation.
• Expertise in mitigating design-related legal and regulatory risks.
• MSc or BSc in Environmental or Engineering discipline.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 14001 standards.
• Membership of relevant professional bodies.
• Analytical skills to influence the drive for continuous improvement.
• Proficiency in sustainable building design, renewable energy and low‐carbon technologies.
• Knowledge and skills to minimise risk of design‐related legal or regulatory issues.
• Ability to estimate project budgets and resource requirements effectively.
