We are looking for an experienced Product Designer to shape how users experience Hilo’s products end to end. This role is responsible for designing intuitive, elegant, and high-quality product experiences across our digital ecosystem, ensuring that form and function are seamlessly integrated. You will play a key role in building and evolving our design system, crafting thoughtful user experiences, and delivering polished, development-ready designs. Working closely with product managers, engineers, and design leadership, you will translate complex requirements into simple, effective, and visually refined solutions. This role requires strong visual craft, deep systems thinking, and the ability to move confidently from early concepts to final execution.
Core Responsibilities
- Product Design & User Experience
- Design end-to-end product experiences, from early concepts and exploration through to polished, dev-ready delivery.
- Translate user needs and product requirements into intuitive, elegant, and functional solutions.
- Balance strong UX thinking with exceptional visual design to create experiences that are both beautiful and usable.
- Design Systems & Craft
- Build, own, and evolve Hilo’s design system to ensure consistency, scalability, and quality across products.
- Create and maintain robust component libraries and design patterns.
- Apply exceptional attention to detail across typography, colour, layout, and interaction design.
- Motion & Interaction Design
- Bring interfaces to life through purposeful, refined motion design.
- Use animation to enhance usability, communicate state changes, and elevate the overall product experience.
- Collaboration & Delivery
- Work closely with product managers and engineers to deliver high-quality, feasible solutions.
- Provide clear, well-structured design handoffs with all necessary specifications and context.
- Collaborate effectively across distributed teams, ensuring strong communication and alignment.
- Continuous Improvement
- Iterate on designs based on feedback, data, and evolving product needs.
- Contribute to improving design processes, tools, and workflows.
- Stay up to date with trends in product design, interaction, and emerging technologies, including AI.
Experience
- 4–8 years of experience in product design, UX/UI design, or related roles.
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality digital product experiences end to end.
- Experience working with design systems at scale, including building and maintaining them.
- Experience designing for complex products, ideally in health tech, wearables, or hardware-connected apps (a plus).
Skills
- Exceptional visual design skills with a strong eye for detail.
- Strong UX thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Proficiency in Figma, including component architecture, auto-layout, and developer handoff workflows.
- Comfortable with motion design and interaction design principles.
- Strong understanding of engineering needs and constraints, with the ability to deliver dev-ready designs.
- Experience with localisation workflows and tools such as Phrase or similar.
- Familiarity with AI tools as part of the design process to enhance speed and quality.
- Fluent, professional English (written and spoken).
