Role Description - Finance Director

Assisting the MD in controlling the organisation’s finances through budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and managing cash flow. Working closely with the leadership team to provide clear financial insight and guide strategic decisions. Ensuring strong financial controls are in place, managing risk effectively, and leading the finance team to support the organisation’s long-term goals.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Support the Managing Director in strategic financial decision-making and business planning.
  • Serve on the Board of Directors, contributing cross-functional strategic insights.
  • Ensure adequate funding for capital expenditure and business growth, including maintaining robust short- and long-term cash flow forecasts.
  • Manage the capex programme alongside the Operations Director.
  • Produce monthly MI and business insight reports; drive cost-saving initiatives and gross margin improvements.
  • Prepare and update budgets and forecasts for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor profitability, ensure accurate accounting records, and maintain GAAP compliance.
  • Lead tax planning efforts with external accountants.
  • Provide financial reporting and variance analysis to banks and external parties, including long-term cash flow forecasts and FX risk management.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders: banks, accountants, insurers, HMRC.
  • Prepare for audits, manage invoice finance and stock funding processes.
  • Oversee VAT returns and statutory submissions to HMRC and Companies House.
  • Supervise finance operations: supplier payments, debt collection, journal approvals, and fixed asset management.
  • Lead payroll coordination with HR and external providers, ensuring compliance with PAYE and pensions.
  • Manage the finance team and ensure robust financial controls across the business.

Location: Must be Newtown based (SY16), or surrounding areas.

Pay: £112,000, plus performance bonus of up to 20%
