Hills Waste Solutions have an opportunity available for a Shift Process Operator to join our team based in Northacre Resource Recovery Centre (NRRC) in Westbury. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £28,415.88 per annum along with a great range of benefits, including:

About the role: As our Shift Process Operator, you will control the operation of the mechanical and biological treatment (MBT) process from within the control room. Your key responsibilities as our Shift Process Operator will include:

  • Maintaining appropriate records and logs of operational data and information.
  • Ensuring that deliveries and dispatches made from the site are processed in an efficient and meticulous manner.
  • Assist with and perform preventative maintenance on fixed and mobile plant.
  • Support others in maintaining the site in safe and clean conditions.
  • Operation of the weighbridge, receipt and dispatch of waste and multi‑role work within processing areas to ensure compliance with planning and permit conditions.

Normal hours are based on a 40‑hour week, from Monday to Friday. The successful candidate will be required to work 8.5‑hour shifts Monday to Friday and alternate Saturday mornings. Shift one: Monday - Friday 06:00 to 14:30 plus 06:00 to 12:00 Saturday. Shift two: Monday – Friday 13:30 to 22:00.

What we’re looking for in our Shift Process Operator:

  • Previous experience working within a process plant environment and operating a Programmable Logic Controller.
  • Computer literate.
  • Aware of current safety and environmental regulations.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Able to take full responsibility for the efficient running of the facility in the absence of the Supervisor, providing direction and supervision of staff.
  • Previous people management experience, an understanding of safety and safe systems and telehandler/forklift qualifications are desirable.
