Join Our Team at Hills! We are looking for a Key Account Manager to join our Waste Sales team. This is a full‑time, permanent role offering a competitive salary and a fantastic benefits package, with the opportunity to play a key role in driving performance and growth across our waste collection operations.
What is the role all about?
As our Key Account Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing and developing mid to high-value, multi-site key customer relationships across Hills Waste Solutions. Your focus will be on maximising profitability, ensuring full compliance with environmental and waste legislation, while building long term partnerships with customers. You will be supporting their sustainability goals and ensuring they receive a high standard of service and proactive account management.
What you will be doing:
- Develop and maintain strong, profitable relationships with key customers
- Generate and secure new business opportunities as well as revenue growth through upselling and cross‑selling
- Proactively identify innovative solutions, leading projects through the full lifecycle from concept to completion.
- Maintain a robust portfolio to support ongoing business growth
- Collaborate with the Bid Manager and sales team to deliver sales success
- Liaise with senior management to support the development of new products, services and markets
- Monitor competitor activity, services and pricing structures
- Maintain accurate contractual documentation, quotations and compliance data via the CRM system.
- Prepare monthly performance reports and attend team meetings as required
- Achieve monthly and annual targets agreed with the Sales Manager
- Support other field sales colleagues where needed to achieve customer satisfaction business growth
What we are looking for:
Essential:
- Proven experience in account management or sales within waste, environmental, or related operational sectors.
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills with the ability to secure profitable business.
- Good understanding of the commercial waste and recycling sector.
- Strong relationship‑building and stakeholder management skills.
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Creative and innovative approach to problem solving.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to targets.
- Competent IT skills and experience using CRM or sales databases.
Desirable:
- Skills in managing complex accounts and coordinating multiple projects effectively.
- Ability to analyse data and identify meaningful trends.
- Working knowledge of waste legislation such as EPA, Duty of Care requirements and Hazardous Waste Regulations.
