Join Our Team at Hills! We are looking for an Assistant Site Manager to join our team in Wiltshire. This is a full-time, permanent role with a competitive salary and a fantastic benefits package.

What is the role all about?

As our Assistant Site Manager, you’ll support the successful delivery of high-quality residential developments from start to finish. Working closely with the Site Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction. You’ll act as a vital link between site teams, subcontractors, and internal departments—helping to maintain efficiency, resolve challenges proactively, and uphold the reputation of Hills Homes Developments for excellence in housebuilding.

What you will be doing?

  • Play a key role in the day-to-day running of the site, supporting the Site Manager to keep everything moving safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
  • Step up to lead the site when required, taking ownership of delegated responsibilities and ensuring continuity.
  • Work closely with the Site Manager to coordinate all site activities, operatives, subcontractors, and resources, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the site.
  • Take responsibility for delegated duties in the Site Manager’s absence, maintaining progress and site standards.
  • Monitor progress against the build programme, ensuring work is delivered on time and in line with project schedules.
  • Maintain high standards of health & safety, quality, and site presentation at all times.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, employees, and subcontractors.
  • Carry out regular site inspections to ensure work meets company specifications and quality expectations.
  • Coordinate materials, plant, and labour to ensure efficiency and continuity on site.
  • Maintain accurate site records, including site diaries, inspections, and compliance documentation.
  • Support site meetings, toolbox talks, and team briefings.
  • Assist with snagging, final finishes, and customer handovers to ensure a high-quality end product.
  • Identify and proactively resolve risks, issues, or defects.
  • Remain up to date with relevant legislation and industry best practice and company training.

What we are looking for?

Essential

  • Previous experience in the construction of new build housing.
  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certification.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and own transport.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Training in first aid at work, Scaffold appreciation, and temporary works supervisor, CSCS card.
