Hillmorton High School is a diverse urban coeducational school situated in the South-West of Christchurch. The school is a fast growing Year 7-13 school with dedicated middle and senior schools. We have a roll of around 1400 and with further building works underway, the roll is expected to increase in the next few years. We provide students with a caring and supportive environment, to help them achieve academic excellence, leadership skills and a love of learning.

Commencing 28 January 2027 our health and PE department are looking for a future-focused and creative-minded teacher who brings initiative and passion for the subject.

A keenness to be a part of and experience in the health space will be valuable.

As Assistant Head of Learning Area (HOLA) the successful candidate will receive one permanent Management Unit (MU). In this role the Assistant HOLA will lead the health learning area as Teacher in Charge (TIC) of Health for Years 7-13.

In addition, one fixed-term Management Unit will be provided from 28 January 2027 to 10 October 2027. This is a fixed-term responsibility to cover the Assistant HOLA of Health and PE who will be on parental leave from 28/01/2027 until 10/10/2027.

Applicants must be able to work well in a team environment, contributing effectively to department discussions, lead curriculum changes, and collaborate well with colleagues.

A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the understanding and ability to teach using culturally responsive and relational pedagogy is essential.

The successful applicant must be a NZ registered teacher and be willing to commit to our co-curricular programme also.
