About the Role

We are seeking aPastoral Support Assistant to join our specialist education team, providing dedicated support to a student with epilepsy who requires constant supervision and tailored support throughout the school day. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a vital role in helping a young person access education safely, confidently and successfully.

Working closely with teachers, therapists, care staff and families, you will help create a safe, nurturing and engaging learning environment where every student can thrive.

As a Pastoral Support Assistant, you will provide both educational and pastoral support, enabling students to access learning while promoting their independence, wellbeing and personal development.

What you'll be doing

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a student with epilepsy, ensuring their safety, wellbeing and engagement in learning.
• Support teachers to deliver high-quality, inclusive learning experiences tailored to individual student needs.
• Assist students to access the curriculum, develop independence and achieve their personal goals.
• Implement and contribute to support plans, risk assessments, behaviour strategies and student records.
• Support students with personal care, emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour management where required.
• Work collaboratively with education, care and therapy teams, maintaining effective communication with families and colleagues.

What We're Looking For

• Experience supporting students with autism, epilepsy, SEND and/or behaviours that challenge.
• Experience working in an education, residential or care setting.
• Calm, patient and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting young people.
• Strong communication, organisational and record-keeping skills.
• Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification (or willingness to work towards)

Syon Manor College is a post 16 learning and skills provider for young people with autism and complex needs. The college will offer a broad curriculum of academic, vocational and life skills learning including BTECs, GCSEs, Functional Skills and ASDAN accreditations which will work towards their preparation for adulthood targets and into employment, supported internships or higher education.
