About the role
We are looking for a Financial Assessment Officer to join our Adult Social Care team. This role is key in ensuring our residents receive prompt and accurate financial assessments while meeting statutory requirements and supporting the Council\’s vision of putting our residents first.
What you’ll be doing
- Producing client financial assessments and reassessments promptly and accurately, in line with financial regulations and statutory obligations.
- Following strict process maps to calculate assessments correctly, ensuring income is maximised.
- Handling customer enquiries via phone, email, letter, or face-to-face meetings.
- Maintaining data integrity across systems and complying with data protection requirements.
- Managing your own workload, meeting tight and sometimes conflicting deadlines.
- Carrying out opening and closing business processes in line with procedures to ensure all daily and periodic tasks are completed to standard.
- Ensuring excellent customer service by working to the Council’s Customer Care Standards.
- Inputting accurate data to support timely production of financial assessments and bills.
- Building knowledge of relevant legislation, such as the Care Act 2014, to handle queries confidently.
- Managing a high volume of incoming calls while progressing individual casework.
- Building strong working relationships with colleagues across internal and external teams.
- Taking responsibility for your own professional development, supported by the Senior Financial Assessment Officer.
