We are looking for a Space Planning Assistant to join our Support Centre team in Ampfield, Hampshire.
This is a full-time, permanent, on-site role based at Hillier Support Centre, so you must be comfortable commuting to this location.
The working hours are 8.30am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, with a 60-minute unpaid break.
With a salary of up to £30,000 per annum, depending on experience, this is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of accurate, practical and commercially effective planograms and space planning documents across our Hillier garden centres.
Working closely with the Store Design and Space Planning Manager, Buying, Merchandising, Marketing and Retail teams, you will help create clear implementation packs that enable our centres to deliver displays consistently and effectively.
This role would suit someone who enjoys working with technical information, has excellent attention to detail and can turn multiple inputs into clear, practical documents for our garden centre teams.
- What you will be doing
- Producing accurate planograms and space planning documents based on agreed briefs.
- Creating clear, retail-ready implementation packs for our garden centres, including planograms, ticketing lists, promotional timelines, merchandising principles and visual examples.
- Ensuring planograms are practical, commercially effective and workable in a real retail environment.
- Consolidating information from Buying, Merchandising and Planning, Marketing and Retail into one clear output.
- Supporting seasonal launches, promotional changes and range resets.
- Maintaining accurate product data, fixture information, layout files and version control.
- Occasionally physically laying out planograms to test feasibility before rollout.
- What we are looking for
- Retail experience in a multi-category environment, with a good understanding of how displays work on the shop floor.
- Confident at modelling in 3D CAD software, ideally Sketch Up, with the ability to create and interpret 2D CAD plans.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Confident use of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power Point.
- A practical mindset, with the ability to spot when something may not work operationally.
- The ability to consolidate information from different stakeholders into clear, structured documents.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
- It would be great if you also have
- Experience in visual merchandising, space planning or store layout work.
- Experience producing planograms or working with planogramming software.
- Experience in promotional planning, ticketing or POS coordination.
- Exposure to multi-site retail operations.
