Hillenbrand is seeking an experienced Global Trade Compliance Senior Manager to support our Food, Health & Nutrition as well as Mold-Masters and DME business operations, to provide hands-on subject matter expertise and help develop, execute, and monitor our global compliance trade program globally within the above-mentioned business units. This role will be located in the EU and will support all global locations.
Work You'll Do
- Develop, implement, and maintain global import/export compliance policies and procedures aligned with international trade laws and company standards.
- Oversee and support import/export documentation, licensing, and classification processes across multiple regions, including the US, Germany, and India.
- Lead and coordinate trade compliance activities across global teams to ensure adherence to regulations such as CETA, REACH, ROHS, PROP 65, and others.
- Manage and monitor dual-use technology control policies, including identifying and mitigating associated risks.
- Conduct trade compliance risk assessments, investigations, and root cause analyses, and lead corrective action initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including legal, regulatory, logistics, and finance—to streamline compliance processes and support trade strategy.
- Stay updated on changes in international trade laws, tariffs, and trade agreements, and adapt compliance programs accordingly.
- Support and lead tariff classification efforts, including HTS database management and the preparation of binding rulings.
- Provide training and guidance to regional teams to ensure understanding and compliance with export/import regulations and internal policies.
- Prepare and support audit activities related to trade compliance, including internal reviews and external regulatory inspections.
Team: This position will have one (1) direct report.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business Management or equivalent.
- Demonstrated continued compliance education.
- Several years of hands-on trade compliance experience.
- Ability to communicate efficiently on various levels within a matrix organization.
- Trade compliance knowledge across USA, Canada, Mexico, EU, Asia, India and South America.
- Proven experience in delivering trade compliance trainings.
- Strong cross-functional problem-solving skills.
- Fluent English skills are a must.
- Fluent German or French are desirable.
- Ability to travel up to 30% of time.
