Hillcrest Futures is recruiting for a Peer Support Worker in the Angus Mental Health Peer Support Service. This service provides peer support around mental health and wellbeing for individuals aged 16 years and above living within Angus. The service offers up to three sessions and is aimed at those with less complex needs.

About the Service

Hillcrest Futures are recruiting for an individual to support the Angus Mental Health Peer Support Service. The service provides peer support focused on mental health and wellbeing, for residents aged 16 and over in Angus. It offers a maximum of three sessions and is intended for individuals with less complex needs.

About the Role

As part of the Angus tiered approach to mental health services, the Peer Support Service operates at level one, providing information, advice, access to self-help and self-management strategies, and signposting. Peer support is defined as the help and support that people with lived experience of mental health challenges can provide for others facing similar situations. Peer Support Workers are based in GP practices across North Angus (Forfar, Kirriemuir, Edzell, Brechin and Montrose).

About You

You will:

  • Have personal experience of mental health and wellbeing challenges
  • Have experience of supporting people with mental health challenges
  • Have good communication skills
  • Have an understanding of basic IT packages – Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher
  • Have the ability to travel to attend meetings and facilitate groups
