Overview
In this role you will lead the UK tax function across two brands, ensuring compliant tax governance and robust controls. You will partner with Finance leadership, HR, Legal, and external advisors to steer tax strategy and risk management for a growing business. You’ll drive improvements in tax processes and reporting, supporting SAO responsibilities and interactions with HMRC. This is a high-impact position with senior leadership exposure and cross-brand influence.

Responsibilities
- Lead UK tax compliance and reporting across Hillarys and Blinds2go, ensuring timely statutory obligations
- Support the SAO responsibilities, coordinating annual assessments and certification
- Maintain and enhance tax governance framework with robust controls and risk management
- Oversee UK tax matters including corporation tax, VAT, employment taxes, and withholding taxes
- Lead tax accounting and reporting activities, including provisions, deferred tax, disclosures, and audits
- Collaborate with Finance, HR, Legal, Payroll, and external advisors for informed tax guidance
- Monitor UK and international tax developments and implement relevant changes
- Support international tax initiatives (transfer pricing, Pillar Two, CbCR) and drive process improvements
- Identify opportunities to improve tax processes, controls, and automation
- Build strong stakeholder relationships with clear guidance on governance and compliance
Key requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related discipline
- Recognised professional tax qualification and/or Chartered Accountant status
- Significant tax experience in multinational or professional services environments
- Strong knowledge of UK corporation tax and UK tax compliance
- Experience of SAO regime and HMRC governance expectations
- Understanding of tax risk management, internal controls, and governance frameworks (SOX)
- Knowledge of tax accounting under UK GAAP and US GAAP
- Exposure to international tax matters including transfer pricing and Pillar Two (advantageous)
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, proactive problem-solving
