We’re looking for an experienced Microsoft SQL Server DBA to join our EMEA IT team. In this hands‑on, strategic role, you’ll ensure the performance, security, and reliability of our mission‑critical databases, while helping to shape the future of our database landscape across the region. You’ll work closely with developers, infrastructure engineers, business analysts, and IT leadership across EMEA.
Key Responsibilities- Design, configure, and manage Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL environments.
- Implement HA/DR, replication, and automation using PowerShell, T‑SQL, and DevOps pipelines.
- Lead performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimisation.
- Enforce database security, encryption, auditing, and regulatory compliance (GDPR, ISO27001).
- Define, test, and execute backup and recovery strategies.
- Act as SME in projects, supporting DevOps and CI/CD practices.
- Maintain documentation and promote database best practices; mentor junior team members.
- Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- Significant hands‑on SQL Server DBA experience.
- Strong experience across on‑prem and cloud SQL (Azure/AWS).
- Deep knowledge of SQL Server 2016+, Azure SQL, T‑SQL, SSIS/SSRS, and PowerShell.
- Familiar with monitoring tools (Redgate, SolarWinds, SQL Sentry) and IaC/automation.
- Skilled in performance tuning, indexing, partitioning, and optimisation.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Able to work independently and collaborate across multiple time zones.
- Leadership mindset with the ability to influence without authority.
- Microsoft Azure Database Administrator certification.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or AWS RDS.
- Exposure to agile and DevOps practices.
