Hill McGlynn is excited to be partnering with a well-established main contractor specialising in new build construction projects across the South East. Due to continued growth, our client is looking to recruit a motivated and ambitious Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team based out of Maidstone.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate or someone at the early stages of their commercial career to gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced construction professionals on a range of high-quality new build projects.
The Role
As a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial team in the day-to-day management of construction projects, gaining exposure to all aspects of quantity surveying and commercial management within a busy main contractor environment. You will receive ongoing training, mentoring, and career development opportunities to help progress your career within the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with cost management and commercial reporting
- Supporting the preparation of valuations and final accounts
- Assisting with subcontractor procurement and administration
- Monitoring project costs and variations
- Supporting senior commercial staff with project documentation and reporting
- Attending site meetings and liaising with project teams
- Maintaining accurate records and financial information
Requirements
- MUST hold a relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related construction discipline
- Strong interest in pursuing a career within quantity surveying and construction
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills
- Good communication and organisational abilities
- Proficient IT skills including Microsoft Office
- Eagerness to learn and develop within a fast-paced environment
- Full UK driving licence preferred
