Hill McGlynn is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established interior design consultancy based in East Malling. Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Design Technician to join their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for design, strong technical ability and a desire to develop their career within the interior fit-out sector.

The Role

Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will produce and interpret accurate technical drawings, coordinate design information and support the successful delivery of interior fit-out projects. This role requires someone who enjoys solving problems, takes pride in producing high-quality work and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in a Design Technician or similar technical design role.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD.
  • The ability to read technical drawings.
  • Strong working knowledge of all Microsoft Office packages.
  • Good understanding of UK Building Regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail with exceptional proofreading skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills, with confidence liaising across internal teams, clients and external consultants.
  • A proactive approach to questioning design solutions and seeking guidance where required.
  • A persistent and resourceful attitude when obtaining information from multiple stakeholders.
  • Driven to learn, retain new information and continually develop technical knowledge.
  • A creative mindset with a flair for design and practical solutions to design challenges.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience using Common Data Environments (CDEs) such as Aconex or Asite.
  • Knowledge of construction and/or interior fit-out projects and processes.
