Hill McGlynn is excited to be partnering with a well-established main contractor specialising in new build construction projects across the South East. Due to continued growth, our client is looking to recruit a motivated and ambitious Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team based out of Maidstone.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate or someone at the early stages of their commercial career to gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced construction professionals on a range of high-quality new build projects.

The Role

As a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial team in the day-to-day management of construction projects, gaining exposure to all aspects of quantity surveying and commercial management within a busy main contractor environment.

You will receive ongoing training, mentoring, and career development opportunities to help progress your career within the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with cost management and commercial reporting
  • Supporting the preparation of valuations and final accounts
  • Assisting with subcontractor procurement and administration
  • Monitoring project costs and variations
  • Supporting senior commercial staff with project documentation and reporting
  • Attending site meetings and liaising with project teams
  • Maintaining accurate records and financial information

Requirements

  • MUST hold a relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related construction discipline
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career within quantity surveying and construction
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • Good communication and organisational abilities
  • Proficient IT skills including Microsoft Office
  • Eagerness to learn and develop within a fast-paced environment
  • Full UK driving licence preferred
