We are currently recruiting for an experienced Freelance Site Manager to provide holiday cover on a live occupied residential refurbishment project in Stevenage between 10th August and 28th August 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional and customer-focused experienced Site Manager to oversee works on a busy site where maintaining excellent relationships with residents and the public is essential.
The Role
As a Site Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the site, ensuring all works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the highest quality standards while maintaining a positive experience for residents and the client.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the day-to-day running of the site during the holiday cover period
- Supervising subcontractors and coordinating site activities
- Monitoring health and safety compliance across the project
- Managing works including:
- Scaffold adaptations
- Brickwork and blockwork
- Sheathing board installation
- EPDM application
- Tyvek membrane installation
- Rendering works
- Carrying out quality inspections and ensuring works meet specification
- Managing site records and reporting progress to the project team
- Liaising professionally with residents, the client, and members of the public
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised working environment throughout the project
Requirements
- Valid SMSTS
- Valid CSCS Card
- First Aid at Work Certificate
- Previous experience managing refurbishment projects
- Excellent communication and customer‑facing skills
- Polite, patient, punctual, and professional approach
- Experience using the Fieldview QA system would be advantageous
