Hill McGlynn is working in partnership with a well-established and respected bricklaying subcontractor to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team based in Maidstone. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in brickwork packages to join a successful subcontractor delivering high-quality residential and commercial projects across the South East.
The Role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of multiple brickwork packages from pre-construction through to final account. Working closely with the operational and commercial teams, you will ensure projects are delivered profitably while maintaining strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the commercial aspects of brickwork packages from inception to completion.
- Preparing valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts.
- Measuring works and preparing cost reports.
- Managing subcontractor accounts and procurement where required.
- Identifying, pricing, and negotiating variations.
- Monitoring project costs and forecasting financial performance.
- Liaising with site teams, clients, and suppliers to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
- Essential experience managing bricklaying/brickwork packages.
- Strong understanding of subcontractor commercial management.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Full UK driving licence.
