Hill McGlynn is delighted to be partnering with a reputable and growing Main Construction Contractor to recruit an experienced Buyer based out of their Romford (Havering) office. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established business with a strong pipeline of projects, particularly within the residential sector.

The Role:

As Buyer, you will play a key role in the procurement of materials and subcontract packages across multiple construction projects. Working closely with commercial and site teams, you will ensure cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality, compliance, and programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source, negotiate, and procure materials and subcontractor packages
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Obtain competitive quotations and carry out cost comparisons
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials in line with project programmes
  • Work closely with Commercial and Project Teams to align procurement strategies
  • Monitor market trends and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Buyer within the construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials and supply chain processes
  • Residential construction experience is highly advantageous
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Strong organisational ability with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
