A well-established main contractor with operations across the UK and Ireland is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in London. This is a great opportunity to work on major commercial and residential projects with a strong pipeline of work ahead.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full commercial cycle on live projects, including cost planning, procurement, valuations, reporting and final accounts.
- Prepare budgets, cost plans, valuations and final accounts.
- Liaise with the Surveying Director, Project Director and Project Manager.
- Attend design and site meetings and issue clear commercial updates.
- Maintain strong working relationships with client representatives.
- Review tender enquiries and assist with tender submissions.
- Negotiate project costs and fixed-price agreements.
- Chair pre-award meetings with subcontractors.
- Manage subcontractor procurement and performance on site.
- Oversee re-measurement, contra charges and payment certificates.
- Maintain and sign off variation logs with the Junior QS.
- Prepare interim payment applications and reconcile payments.
- Produce monthly cost reports and attend commercial meetings.
- Manage project cashflow forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements and industry standards.
Requirements
- Degree in Quantity Surveying.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of drawings, specifications and bills of quantities.
- Experience delivering commercial or residential projects.
- Able to extract quantities and issue enquiries to subcontractors.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and QS software.
- Proven experience with valuations, variations and final accounts.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a wider team.
- Flexible, proactive and commercially focused.
