Our client is a leading Super Prime Main Contractor delivering some of the UK's most prestigious and technically complex residential projects. Due to continued growth and an expanding pipeline of work, they are seeking an experienced Head of Pre-Construction to lead their pre-construction function and drive work-winning performance across the business. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the full pre-construction lifecycle, ensuring opportunities are properly qualified, commercially robust, and aligned with the company's growth objectives. You will lead a multidisciplinary team across estimating, bid management and procurement, providing direction and governance from initial opportunity through to contract award.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the pre-construction team, fostering a high-performance culture focused on quality, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Drive bid strategy, qualification processes and tender governance to maximise conversion rates and secure profitable, deliverable work.
- Oversee the management of multiple tenders, ensuring clear route-to-win strategies, programme control, risk management and submission excellence.
- Provide strategic leadership on commercial, contractual, procurement and delivery risks, ensuring appropriate escalation and director-level visibility.
- Strengthen supply chain engagement and procurement strategies to enhance competitiveness and market coverage.
- Champion continuous improvement through lessons learned, market intelligence and bid performance analysis.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience leading a pre-construction, bid management or work-winning function within a Super Prime or high-end residential main contractor.
- Strong understanding of complex procurement routes, tender strategy, commercial management and risk mitigation.
- Demonstrable track record of securing high-value construction projects.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at board level.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering successful outcomes across multiple live opportunities.
