The Role
Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, you'll support the commercial management of a major refurbishment and fit-out project from procurement through to final account.
You'll play a key role in maintaining financial control, managing subcontractor accounts and ensuring commercial processes are delivered efficiently and accurately.
This position offers the opportunity to develop your commercial expertise within a collaborative team while taking increasing responsibility as the project progresses.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the commercial management of a large-scale commercial fit-out and refurbishment project.
- Support procurement activities, including obtaining quotations, analysing tenders and preparing subcontract packages.
- Manage subcontractor accounts, valuations, variations and payment applications.
- Assist with cost reporting, forecasting and monthly financial reporting.
- Monitor project costs and identify opportunities to improve value and commercial performance.
- Support the preparation and negotiation of final accounts.
- Help administer change control processes and maintain accurate commercial records.
- Work closely with site teams to ensure commercial activities align with programme and project objectives.
- Build positive working relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
- Assist in identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with company commercial procedures and contractual requirements.
Requirements
- Previous experience as an Assistant Commercial Manager or Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
- Experience delivering commercial fit-out, refurbishment or main contracting projects is highly desirable.
- Good understanding of construction contracts and commercial management principles.
- Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop professionally.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related construction discipline.
