The Role

Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, you'll support the commercial management of a major refurbishment and fit-out project from procurement through to final account.

You'll play a key role in maintaining financial control, managing subcontractor accounts and ensuring commercial processes are delivered efficiently and accurately.

This position offers the opportunity to develop your commercial expertise within a collaborative team while taking increasing responsibility as the project progresses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the commercial management of a large-scale commercial fit-out and refurbishment project.
  • Support procurement activities, including obtaining quotations, analysing tenders and preparing subcontract packages.
  • Manage subcontractor accounts, valuations, variations and payment applications.
  • Assist with cost reporting, forecasting and monthly financial reporting.
  • Monitor project costs and identify opportunities to improve value and commercial performance.
  • Support the preparation and negotiation of final accounts.
  • Help administer change control processes and maintain accurate commercial records.
  • Work closely with site teams to ensure commercial activities align with programme and project objectives.
  • Build positive working relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
  • Assist in identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with company commercial procedures and contractual requirements.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as an Assistant Commercial Manager or Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
  • Experience delivering commercial fit-out, refurbishment or main contracting projects is highly desirable.
  • Good understanding of construction contracts and commercial management principles.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop professionally.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related construction discipline.
