A leading South East housebuilder is seeking a Head of Sustainability & Environmental to lead its net carbon homes strategy alongside a hands-on environmental compliance function across live construction operations. This is a senior leadership role reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, with a 50/50 split across sustainability strategy and environmental delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and implement the group-wide Sustainability and ESG strategy
  • Deliver net carbon homes initiatives and set measurable targets
  • Oversee environmental controls across sites, yards, offices, and factory
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and best practice
  • Manage nuisance control (noise, dust, vibration), pollution prevention, and waste
  • Develop EMPs, SWMPs, and deliver Environmental TBTs
  • Support ESG Committee and drive engagement across the business
  • Work closely with operational teams to embed site-level best practice
  • Act as an external representative with regulators and stakeholders
Requirements
  • Experience in Sustainability, ESG, and Environmental roles within construction or housebuilding
  • Strong knowledge of site-based environmental controls and compliance
  • Experience delivering EMPs, SWMPs, and environmental procedures
  • Understanding of net-zero and ESG frameworks
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
  • Degree, MIEMA, CEnv, CSCSP
Package
  • £85,000 - £100,000 salary
  • £5,500 car allowance

  • Flexible working (must be commutable to Maidstone)
