Technical design in construction is the lifeblood of our industry. Transforming architectural designs and translating them into a technical, workable construction drawing is the most underrated discipline in construction. Historically, subcontractors within drylining have shied away from technical design, either avoiding D&B contracts or subbing the design elements out, especially when modelling in BIM. Our client has taken the bull by the horns and is now developing their design capabilities in both 2D Technical and 3D Modelling. It is a great time to join their growing Design team as the opportunity for growth within the department is huge.
As a BIM Coordinator, you will report into the Design Manager and be able to lean on him for professional support, development, and training. You will work alongside another BIM Coordinator on their project and then be given your own project to run both technically (2D construction details) and managing the BIM Model. Within a two-year period, you will develop in your role and become a Design Manager in your own right. Having both Technical 2D construction drawing capabilities, coupled with modelling in Revit, the sky will be the limit with your newly acquired very niche skill set within drylining.
You will be based on site 2 / 3 days per week and can work from home on the other days. Our client is very flexible and wants the role to work for you. To be considered for this opportunity, we are looking for someone who has competent Revit skills, with experience in authoring and editing of family components. You will also need to have a working knowledge of AutoCAD (drafting, sheet management, PDF vector drawing manipulation/extraction). You will also need to have a proven track record in viewing the BIM Model using Navisworks, to resolve model clashes. You will also need to demonstrate competency in a Stage 5 detail (detail ready to be built), preferably in drylining, but any other transferrable experience can be considered.
In return, you will be joining a growing design team, be offered complete flexibility in your role and working week with plenty of opportunities for growth and development. Should this role be of interest, please apply to this advert today.
