Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00 (35 hours per week) hybrid working with a minimum of two days per week office based. Happy to talk flexible working.

Role overview: Our Technical Business Analysts act as a bridge between legal practice and business operations, translating legal requirements into system/process specifications to improve workflows and drive efficiency. Their role also supports project delivery by ensuring comprehensive documentation is captured and maintained throughout the project lifecycle. This includes defining and documenting scope and deliverables to enable the development of costs and timescales, as well as supporting testing and change control. Effective communication with stakeholders at all levels, including executives and legal partners, is essential. You will be required to work across all Legal Business Groups and Central Service teams, supporting both operational initiatives and internal client-facing transformation projects. The role requires the ability to adapt BA discipline to a legal services environment, ensuring that technical, operational, and client-driven outcomes are aligned with the firm’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Lead workshops to capture requirements and map user journeys.
  • Assess requirements and processes against the firms’ strategic goals to ensure maximum value.
  • Document requirements clearly and simply, using unambiguous language to ensure understanding for all parties.
  • Lead on prioritisation of requirements using methods such as weighted scoring.
  • Lead stakeholder sessions to playback requirements/wireframes/user journeys.
  • Ensure requirements and project success criteria are measurable and testable.
  • Support data migration activities.
  • Support test preparation and execution.
  • Define scope and support the management of change.
  • Manage scope and change control throughout projects.
  • Assist with training and provide post-go-live support.
  • Support client-facing process mapping, requirements gathering and solution design where the firm is delivering technology-enabled services to clients.
  • Partner with IT Infrastructure colleagues to ensure all requirements and proposed solutions are technically robust, feasible, and aligned with firm-wide standards.
  • Partner with legal tech colleagues and legal teams on client delivery innovation, ensuring requirements are captured accurately and solutions meet client expectations.

What are we looking for:

Important criteria:

  • Minimum three years’ experience as a Technical Business Analyst.
  • Proven experience leading workshops.
  • Exceptionally strong stakeholder management skills in complex environments.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Experience in translating business problems into actionable user stories.
  • Experience in gap analysis and requirements tracking.
  • Business process mapping/wireframing experience.
  • Experience of working with complex integrated systems.
  • Strong understanding of how data flows and is transformed across complex, multi-platform environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently and maintain clarity under pressure.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Excel and Visio.
  • Basic SQL skills for data analysis.
  • Data mapping experience.

It would be beneficial to have some of the following:

  • Knowledge of legal processes and software (such as Aderant, Intapp, IManage etc.).
  • Experience of working with data-oriented projects.
  • Experience of working with APIs.
  • Experience of PowerBI.
  • Experience of QA Testing.
  • Experience of working with Lean Six Sigma methodology.
