Role overview
Introduction to the role:
The KM Paralegal will provide operational support across the Knowledge function, ensuring information, processes and KM assets are well maintained and effectively used. This is a graduate-level role designed for someone with strong technical confidence and an interest in developing a career in Knowledge.
The post holder will work closely with the Knowledge Lead, the Information Services team, PSLs and colleagues across the firm. They will support KM activity and contribute to the smooth running of KM systems, AI and automation initiatives, training and related projects.
Key responsibilities:
- Support the organisation and upkeep of KM materials at an operational level, ensuring information is stored and structured appropriately.
- Assist with day-to-day activity across the firm’s KM systems, helping to maintain consistency, organisation and usability.
- Help colleagues use KM systems and resources effectively by responding to queries, preparing practical guidance and coordinating appropriate support where needed.
- Act as the first-draft contributor for KM automation projects by gathering structured inputs and supporting clear communication between lawyers and the automation team.
- Carry out initial checks on automated content to ensure alignment with KM source materials before escalating it for review.
- Support the testing and ongoing improvement of AI-enabled KM solutions by gathering feedback, checking outputs against trusted source materials and documenting issues or opportunities.
- Monitor updates from KM subscription services and route relevant items to PSLs, the Information Services team or the Knowledge Lead.
- Support KM projects and initiatives through coordination, gathering and structuring inputs, preparing materials, tracking actions and maintaining project documentation.
- Assist with internal engagement and training activities that promote the effective use of KM systems and resources including the creation and maintenance of practical training materials, user guides and supporting documentation for KM systems, tools and processes.
What are we looking for:
Important criteria:
- Degree in law or related legal discipline.
- Strong technical confidence and willingness to develop deeper expertise in KM tools, processes, and systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling structured information.
- Clear communication skills with the ability to work effectively with lawyers and business services teams.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage routine tasks reliably and methodically.
- Genuine interest in Knowledge Management, legal operations, or legal information work.
- Curiosity and willingness to grow into more specialist KM responsibilities over time.
