Overview

Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:30 (37.5 hours per week)

Role Overview

We are looking for a technically sound employment lawyer with demonstrable experience across a full range of employment matters including contentious, corporate support, advisory and investigations, with appropriate supervision. You will be given plenty of client responsibility and exposure but at the same time be part of a supportive team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing legal advice to a broad range of clients, from company owners and managers, HR professionals and in-house lawyers, to public and private sector organisations, as well as senior employees and executives, on a range of employment matters.
  • Undertake all aspects of employment law advice including drafting employment documents, advising on employee relations issues, including disciplinary matters and grievances, working on Employment Tribunal cases, often including whistleblowing and discrimination claims, advising on dismissals, redundancy and restructuring, assisting with corporate transactions including TUPE matters, and becoming involved in investigations for clients.
  • Build and maintain client relationships.
  • Build and maintain inter-departmental relationships with peers and key stakeholders in other teams.
  • Contribute to business development.

What Are We Looking For

Important criteria:

  • Qualified solicitor or equivalent (1-4 years post qualification experience)
  • Demonstrable experience supporting on contentious, non-contentious and transactional employment matters with appropriate supervision.
  • The ability and experience of managing a caseload providing sound commercial advice.

It would be beneficial for you to have some of the following:

  • An understanding of clients’ needs and expectations.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Adherence to guidelines and procedures.
  • Flexibility in approach and a willingness to work outside normal office hours, if required.
