Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Care Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to residents in our residential home, enhancing their quality of life by assisting with daily activities and ensuring their comfort and well‑being.

Main Responsibilities
- Support residents with washing, toileting, dressing, undressing, and all aspects of daily living.
- Assist residents with personal care needs, ensuring comfort, dignity, and safety.
- Help those with limited mobility or learning difficulties, using aids effectively.
- Monitor residents who may be confused or have behavioural problems.
- Assist with continence promotion and care for residents who are dying or have a progressive illness.
- Complete written daily records in line with company policies.
- Facilitate social activities and help residents maintain hobbies and interests.
- Answer the nurse‑call system, door, and telephone, and pass on messages promptly.
- Report on residents\’ well–being under senior supervision.
- Carry out regular checks on residents at intervals set by senior staff.
- Welcome visitors, provide refreshments, and assist with their needs.
- Prepare beds, keep rooms tidy, and manage waste in line with the care home’s policy.
- Keep equipment (wheelchairs, hearing aids, spectacles) clean and maintained.
- Care for residents’ clothing and rooms as required, marking items clearly.
- Maintain privacy and dignity for the dying and bereaved, following policy.
- Assist residents during meal times, respecting swallowing difficulties and dietary requirements.
- Escort residents to and from the care home for social outings or hospital visits.
- Practice integrity in all dealings with residents’ personal and financial affairs.
- Participate in the re‑arrangement of residents’ bedrooms, using safe handling techniques.
Communication
- Participate in staff and resident meetings as required.
Training and Development
- Maintain professional knowledge and competence.
- Attend mandatory training days and courses on or off‑site as required.
- Participate in relevant NVQ training to achieve required qualifications.
Health and Safety
- Report immediately to the Home Manager any illness, accident, or infection.
- Ensure implementation of the Home’s health and safety policy and emergency procedures.
- Report faulty appliances, damaged furniture, or hazards to the Home Manager or handyperson.
- Promote safe working practice and the good reputation of the care home.
- Maintain confidentiality of information gained in the course of duty.
- Notify the Home Manager of any inability to report for duty at least two hours before shift.
- Ensure the security of the care home at all times.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures within defined timescales.
- Keep equipment clean and well maintained.
- Carry out any other tasks reasonably assigned.
