Practice Manager at Hill and Company Solicitors
Assistant – Family Law Department
Vacancy: From 1st November 2025
Location: Altrincham (WA14 1QD)
Hours: 36 per week – Monday to Thursday 09:00–17:15, Friday 09:00–17:00 (1-hour unpaid lunch break, usually to be taken between 13:00 and 14:00)
Salary: £23,000 per annum

We are seeking a professional, well-organised and motivated individual to join our Family Law Department as an Assistant (no prior legal qualifications are required). This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to work in a busy legal practice, providing vital support to our Family Law Solicitor.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing bills and assisting with billing processes
- Drafting legal documents and correspondence
- Assisting with the preparation of court bundles and associated documentation
- Handling client correspondence and communication with sensitivity and professionalism
Candidate Requirements
No prior legal qualifications are required; however, the successful candidate must demonstrate:
- Excellent written and verbal English
- Strong organisational skills (including filing, time recording, and diary management, etc.)
- Basic numeracy skills (for billing purposes)
- The ability to communicate professionally yet empathetically with vulnerable clients
- Emotional maturity
- The ability to follow instructions and work effectively within a team
- Competence with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
What We Offer
- Salary of £23,000 per annum
- Nest pension for eligible employees (auto-enrolled after 3 months’ employment unless opt-out requested before then)
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays. We close the office for Christmas and so staff must save 3.5 days to cover the period from midday on 24th December until the first working day in January
