Overview

In this role you lead UK tax compliance for the group, collaborating with the accounting and tax teams to ensure accurate corporate tax and VAT returns. You act as the main HMRC contact, manage audits, and oversee SAO compliance and tax risk governance. You will coordinate with Group Tax on UK provisions, reports, and IFRS disclosures, while monitoring global tax rules and OECD developments. You’ll shape cross-border tax planning and M&A support within a dynamic, multi-country tax function.

Responsibilities

  • Lead UK direct and indirect tax compliance (corporate tax and VAT) for UK entities and branches
  • Be the primary point of contact with HMRC and manage UK tax audits
  • Oversee SAO compliance and timely SAO certification to HMRC
  • Maintain UK tax risks and controls matrix; update tax risk management policy
  • Coordinate UK tax provisions, financial reporting, and IAS/IFRS disclosures with Group Tax and finance
  • Manage external auditors for UK tax positions; ensure timely interim and year-end reporting
  • Monitor UK tax laws and communicate proposed changes to Group Tax
  • Oversee CbCR reporting and Pillar II/global minimum tax matters across jurisdictions
  • Coordinate UK withholding tax with Group teams and optimize treaty relief and documentation
  • Support HR with payroll tax compliance and Appendix 8 reporting

Key requirements

  • Minimum 12 years of relevant tax experience
  • Professional qualification (ACA/ACCA/CTA)
  • Strong tax accounting and technical skills
  • Experience handling HMRC audits
  • Experience with tax provision software and ERP systems (OneSource Tax Provision, SAP, Oracle, Hyperion)
  • Excellent written and verbal English
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience supporting M&A transactions and cross-border tax matters
  • Collaborative mindset; works well across borders
  • Strong stakeholder management; partnering with finance, corporate development, and external advisors
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Tax accounting and tax provision expertise
  • OneSource Tax Provision (OTP) experience
  • ERP and consolidation systems (SAP, Oracle, Hyperion) familiarity
