Research Computing & Infrastructure
Build the infrastructure behind the research.
Hikaros Quant Lab (HQL) is building a quantitative research and technology organisation focused on solving difficult problems in financial markets through mathematics, machine learning and large-scale computing.
We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to build and operate the computational foundations that enable our researchers and engineers to develop, test and deploy ideas.
This is an early-stage role with significant ownership. You will help design HQL's infrastructure from the ground up, working directly with researchers and engineers.
What you will do
- Design and build scalable research and compute infrastructure
- Manage CPU/GPU workloads and large-scale computational environments
- Build automation, deployment and Infrastructure-as-Code tooling
- Develop reliable systems for data, compute and research workloads
- Improve performance, observability, security and reliability
- Work closely with researchers and engineers to enable rapid experimentation
What we are looking for
We value strong engineering fundamentals over a specific industry background.
Essential:
- Strong Linux and systems engineering experience
- Programming or scripting skills
- Experience with cloud, on-premise or HPC infrastructure
- Infrastructure automation / Infrastructure as Code
- Strong problem-solving ability
Desirable:
- Kubernetes / Docker
- AWS, Azure or GCP
- GPU / CUDA
- Distributed systems
- High-performance computing
- Python, C++ or Go
- Machine learning infrastructure
Financial experience is not required.
Why HQL?
- Build infrastructure from first principles
- Work directly with quantitative researchers
- Support large-scale AI, simulation and quantitative research
- Significant technical ownership and autonomy
- Help shape the technology and engineering culture from the beginning
We are looking for engineers who enjoy building fast, reliable and scalable systems for difficult problems.
