Work with the Outer Hebrides TalEntEd implementation team as they scope and plan new demand‑led curriculum in the Allied Health Professions sector. Lead the development and approval of Work Based Learning (WBL) or workplace‑targeted upskilling curriculum to help retain and attract young people to the islands. These curriculum developments will be directly linked to Allied Health Professions subject areas in the Outer Hebrides.
Part of the Islands Growth Deal, the TalEntEd Islands Programme is a £5.9m initiative focused on innovative approaches in education, skills, entrepreneurship and commercialisation across Orkney, Shetland, and the Western Isles, supporting the fast‑tracking of decarbonisation and the increase of sustainable ‘green’ jobs. The TalEntEd WBL work‑package, a £2m, six‑year project (April 2025 to March 2031), aims to develop and pilot innovative work‑based learning delivery models that transition to net zero and green jobs, increasing the choice for people to come to or stay on the islands. UHI is the lead partner for TalEntEd, collaborating with Robert Gordon University and Heriot‑Watt, and is responsible for delivering the ‘Innovative Islands Work‑Based Learning’ work‑package. The successful candidate will coordinate with UHI colleagues in the Allied Health field to avoid duplication and liaise with external stakeholders across the business/industry sector in the islands to identify challenges and needs.
Responsibilities
- Identify and develop skills within and directly related to the workplace, focusing on reflection on work practice.
- Establish WBL models that can remain sustainable beyond the project’s funding and scope.

- Base viability on sustainable employer demand and their capacity to support pilot delivery.
- Identify future and emerging needs, accounting for time lags between skill requirements and employment demand.
- Ensure equality of access and opportunity, maintaining equity across island geographies.
